How to Stop Portland Beavers from Eating Trees

Portland beavers are quirky creatures, munching away at trees in order to build dams, which is great and can actually help the environment, however if a tree which they are threatening to fell may result damaging your property or you don't want them to knock a tree down for you it can be a bit of a nuisance.

If you live in an area which Oregon beavers live, such as a river or lake, you may find this to be more of a problem, and so you want to find a cheap and lasting solution. So you want to stop them from doing this. One of the easier ways is to simply put any meshing around the tree trunk, in order to stop them from getting at the wood (as steel is much harder to eat at). However, for some people they may perceive this as not enough in order to stop beavers from getting at the trees, and so another way of stopping them is by using a chemical repellant, which the beavers can not stand.

The combined effect of the unpleasant taste and smell of the repellant, along with the weird feeling of the metallic casing which you have put on your tree will more than likely deter the beavers from gnawing on it more, however they are more than likely to move onto another tree in the nearby vicinity, so you may want to give all your trees the same treatment. One massive bonus if both these is that although they do not like it, both methods are harmless to Salem beavers and all other animals and so it is completely safe to use!
